'Elephant'
My sculpture is one of an abstract elephant. The sculpture is suggesting beauty though my eyes, taking inspiration from nature and animals. The general shape is an organic and similar to a semi-circle with other shapes coming off to represent the trunk, tail and tusks. The hole in the middle of the elephant is representing how elephants get poached and killed, the hole is like a bullet hole.
I created my artwork by using a thick batch of plaster and then moulding it on a table. I liked doing this style because it helped the shape be more natural and to have more control over the final product.
The big idea behind it was to represent beauty to me and elephants are a good representation and it connects back to me. My mums favourite animal is an elephant and she is from South Africa so she has seen them.
A goal for this artwork was to represent beauty to me and have the sculpture suggest something. It does look like an elephant but it isn鈥檛 realistic. Overall, I do like the sculpture and how it turned out.
