'Wings'

My artwork is a suggestive sculpture that represents beauty. My sculpture is made from a mix of thick plaster and white paint as we ran out of armature. My inspiration for my sculpture where wings as they are avital and beautiful part of nature, I decided to call my artwork “white wings”. As I chose that name as my sculpture looks like two wings and I kept it white as it’s a simple and basic colour. I started by making a smaller prototype of what I was hopping to create on a bigger version, so I can practice how to get the curves right and work out what method will work best for me and my vision.

I chose the thickest type of wire that was available as I knew for my sculpture to be big it needed to be able to hold and support the sock and armature with out the wire walling and loosing its shape. My inspiration for my sculpture was a butterfly and the beautiful power that animals with wings hold in nature. My goal was to represent wing like shapes that aren’t symmetrical and unique in their own way. I’m happy with the way my sculpture turned out.
