'It's Not Too Late'
Our artwork is an image of a yin and yang with one side black and white and the other blue and green which gives an earthy/cool atheistic. The background of the artwork if white which makes the artwork stand out. The subject matter of this artwork is that the green and blue side of the yin and yang represent the earth and the black and white side represents space.
As a group of four we have named our artwork “it’s not too late” which explains that we still have time. This is because our artwork is based off of global warming which is represented in the piece as the side of the earth is all melting away. While planning this artwork we wanted it to be quite large, so it was right in your face so when you walked past it your eye was drawn.
The artwork is closed as the outline is finished and joined to make the work look cohesive. The artwork is mostly strong and dynamic as it is very bold. In the artwork there is a representation of bumpy which is in the moon. The lines around the artwork are controlled and interrupted due to the drip inspired shapes. Some materials used to make this artwork are; paint, paintbrushes, stencils, rollers and a toothbrush. Our artwork shows a social issue which represents hope and a community which can make a difference. Because of watching all the news about global warming inspired us to show our peers that it isn’t too late to make a difference. This has reached my goal because of the size and boldness which will catch people’s eye and make them realise the story/ meaning behind the artwork.
Something that I learned while creating this artwork was that when painting, everyone needs to paint the same way and there needs to be multiple layers so there isn’t any stroke lines. This piece has turned out a lot better than I imagined as the colours, lining and texture were so bold. This piece will inspire my future artworks as it showed me that artworks can have an important meaning/ story to it which can easily be interpreted by others.
