A Mother's Identity

The theme chosen for my final composition, ‘A Mothers Identity’ is an art piece designed and created to show the concept of my mothers’ identity. I have combined objects that represents aspects of my mother’s life using of objects, places or things that had shaped my mother to who she is today, what makes her, herself.

Through the exploration of different artists, I was influenced by the well-known artist, Leonardo Da Vinci. Da Vinci can draw portraits with many kinds of materials, techniques, and mediums. He draws in a realistic way which connects to many types of audiences not just art based. I was inspired by him to show forms of realism in my artwork to connect to the audience. I am motivated to use realism in a simple affective manner for which suits me best to sure the appreciation of beauty and connect to the viewers.

The production of my final composition includes the use of photography, water colour, and slight tonal. I choose water as a medium as the use of free flowing with colour captures aesthetically pleasing colours and values. Free flowing allows the colour on paper to blend harmoniously with other colours used, along with using gradation of light and dark values to help show a better chance of realism in the art. Photography captured the image of my mother with a filter to fit aesthetically with the rest of my work.

This artwork displays images which defines my mother’s identity, which are memories that have shaped my mother to who she is today. Memories can affect a person into shaping them to be a better person in life. ‘a Mothers identity’ demonstrates to the viewers that the simplest thing to one person, is completely different to another.
