The purpose of this Folio is to explore the female body and what is considered ‘beautiful’ in society’s standards. The idea of this visual study was inspired by the influence society has on myself as well as the young women around me, through the years I’ve witnessed women go to extremes to obtain what society considers ‘beautiful’ from developing eating disorders, unhealthy amounts of exercise, as well as the aftermath of not being able to reach those unreasonable standards. My aim was to spread awareness that no matter your size, shape, or colour you are still beautiful no matter what society says. I want young girls and women alike to look through my artworks and say, ‘hey that girl looks like me’ and I want them to see that what society has conditioned them to think is ‘unattractive’ is actually beautiful.
Through exploring artists such as Leonardo Da Vinci and Botticelli who studied the idea of beauty and what makes someone beautiful.
