Music Students Treated to Darwin Symphony Orchestra

Darwin Symphony Orchestra's stunning performance on Saturday 18 March, was an absolute delight for some Good Shepherd Year 10, 11 and 12 music students.

The Darwin Entertainment Centre's audience was treated to a range of classical works, including pieces by Barber, Kodaly and Brahms. Not only did the orchestra impress with their skill and precision, but the performance also featured some familiar faces from the students' music classes.

Music teacher, Mrs Laura Llewellyn featured as a Clarinet soloist and Mr Benjamin Bradtke on piano, performed alongside the orchestra, much to the excitement of their students. The performance featured the talents of tutors David Py (trumpet) and Stephanie Arnold (cello).

For many of the students, it was their first experience seeing a live orchestra, and the atmosphere was electric.

Some of the students have commented:

Going to the symphony was a great experience to see my teachers play and see the orchestra together.

I loved the climax sections of each song and how clear the instruments were. It was fascinating to apply my class knowledge when listening and analysing the music.

Being able to see each section at work, all coming together to form a wall of sound is something I have never experienced before. I highly recommend it.
